An opportunity appeared a few years ago for me to travel around USA and I was definitely not going to miss that chance! I lived in NYC at the time and by then spent two years living on the East Coast. And so I really wanted to visit the South and West Coast before moving back to Europe. I had some plans with a friend about New Orleans and a friend in LA to visit, but the rest of the time was a blank canvas for me to fill. I had this fantasy about a road trip around California but non of my friends were available to take some time off from work. And this is where Intrepid Travel company comes into play.
Intrepid Travel is a small group adventure travel company that offers tons of scheduled itineraries worldwide and it's perfect for solo travelers! Without much thought I've joined a group of around 15 fellow travelers that I was about to meet for the first time in Los Angeles from where our little van was about to make a departure.
There were more ways to travel around West Coast with Intrepid but my choice ended up to be a Los Angles - San Francisco five day trip with some grand stops like Joshua Tree National park, Grand Canyon, Las Vegas and Yosemite park. My roommate for the trip was one awesome Canadian lady but there were a lot of Australian folks who had a summer break (it was winter on North Hemisphere so we avoided the heat and all the hype I've heard is happening during the summer months). Some had friends from before on this trip and some like me made friends along the way.
We had a night out in Las Vegas with a limo and an entrance to a fine club. Let's say we had some wild times in Vegas! All in all the organisation was great. Our driver was our tour guide and he was pretty cool taking care of us concerning everything - safety, entertainment, restroom breaks...
Beautiful city of San Francisco was our last stop. We've spend way too many hours in that few days traveling around in our small (tiny) van but looking back it was really worth it. Some folks stayed for a while in San Francisco and others continued their trip or headed home. I've spent a day with a friend that I got to know the last time I was in California and continued to Baltimore afterwards. But that now is a different story! I hope you enjoyed the photos and that my "courage" inspired a spark to travel, even if you are the only traveling friend you have. :)

This was SO exciting! Montage of Heck is a new documentary about Kurt Cobain that premiered on TV this week and it's amazing. I saw it a few days ago and I couldn't stop thinking about it. It's directed by Brett Morgan who was (surprisingly) approached by Courtney Love and was given access to Cobain's personal and family archives. It's really inventive and original, made as chronological collage of home movies, voice recordings, animated illustrations, intimate conversations... Even some random retro TV footage that Kurt liked.
Anyway, if even just a part of you is a little bit of Nirvana fan - you will love it! If not, Nevermind.

Ebay is a great place for me to experiment without having to spend too much money (or not much money at all). I wanted to play out some ideas on a budget so I got these iteems and they were pretty amusing to mess around with (well, some of them were but "it's not an experiment if you know it's going to work"). I even wore these fake bangs few times out! They are similar to my hair color and the texture is ok. The lipstick I got is super durable and the sunglasses are on trend.
This military jacket had to visit a tailor who made it a bit more suitable for my (pear) body shape but the denim top is funky and paired with right iteems looks rather good. So that's that... Explore, dream, discover and dare to try!

Life is an experiment. The more experiments you make the better.
